Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Facilities Maintenance Assistant to join our team at St. Coletta of Greater Washington. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance and repair of our buildings and grounds are performed to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment, and grounds, including performing routine inspections and making necessary repairs.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of maintenance and repair plans to ensure the longevity of our facilities.
  • Collaborate with the facilities manager to prioritize and schedule maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Perform manual labor tasks, including lifting, carrying, and moving heavy equipment and supplies.
  • Operate a variety of equipment, including trucks, forklifts, and other machinery.
  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of HVAC systems, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of grounds, including landscaping, mowing, and snow removal.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the facilities manager.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in the maintenance of large buildings and grounds.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to operate a variety of equipment, including trucks, forklifts, and other machinery.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and management.
  • Ability to maintain a safe and clean working environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in facilities maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
Work Environment

The work environment for this position is fast-paced and dynamic, with a focus on ensuring the maintenance and repair of our facilities are performed to the highest standards. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and will be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and management.

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this position include lifting, carrying, and moving heavy equipment and supplies, as well as operating a variety of equipment, including trucks, forklifts, and other machinery. The ideal candidate will be able to perform these tasks with minimal supervision and will be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
