Job Overview

Salary: $22-$25 DOE

Baldwin Paving Company, Inc. is actively seeking qualified drivers possessing a CDL Class A license to operate our flatbed trucks and various other vehicles. This is a full-time position that reports directly to the Grading & Pipe Site Foreman.

Position Summary

The role involves a range of responsibilities related to the distribution of equipment and materials, necessitating a valid CDL-A license.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, route, and transport construction materials and equipment.
  • Inspect incoming equipment or materials for damage and necessary repairs.
  • Determine the best methods and tools for moving items safely.
  • Complete and manage all required paperwork and dispatch processes.
  • Maintain accurate logs, maintenance records, and transportation documents.
  • Ensure proper identification, labeling, and documentation for all shipments.
  • Assist the Foreman in determining freight shipping requirements.
  • Analyze technical transportation needs and requirements.
  • Safely maneuver vehicles in tight spaces and over uneven terrain.
  • Operate vehicles on various road types, managing braking systems effectively.
  • Ensure cargo is loaded, secured, and distributed correctly.
  • Transport bulky items while maintaining load balance and protection.
  • Occasionally navigate rough surfaces.
  • Collect items from various locations as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on assigned vehicles.
  • Maintain the vehicle's appearance and readiness for inspections.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Work Environment

  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and equipment.
  • Work environment may be loud.
  • Exposure to dust, fumes, and various weather conditions.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Manual dexterity and strength to operate equipment controls.
  • Capability to stand, bend, kneel, or sit for extended periods.

Additional Requirements

Maintain a professional demeanor towards colleagues and the public. Flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed. Adhere strictly to safety protocols as outlined in the Safety Manual. Willingness to collaborate with team members and assist with various tasks.

Personal Protective Equipment

Compliance with personal protective equipment requirements as specified by OSHA and company policy is mandatory. This may include items such as coveralls, gloves, hard hats, and safety glasses.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of CDL driving experience.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Possession of a valid, unrestricted Class A License.

All applicants must have a clean record in the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse. This position offers a competitive hourly rate between $22-$25 based on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package including PTO, 401(k), health insurance, and more.
