Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Equipment Maintenance Specialist to join our team at the City of Marietta, GA. This is a journey-level position in the Street Division of the Public Works Department that reports directly to the Streets Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain heavy equipment, including dump trucks, boom trucks, street sweepers, and backhoes, to perform street repairs, construction, and maintenance tasks.
  • Build and repair infrastructure, including curbs, gutters, drains, and sidewalks, using construction equipment and materials.
  • Dig ditches, lay drainage pipe, and build head walls to ensure proper drainage and water management.
  • Repair streets by removing broken asphalt and filling with new asphalt, and operate jackhammers, tampers, and air compressors to complete tasks.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, perform routine inspections, and complete maintenance report forms as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Streets Supervisor.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess a valid Georgia Class A CDL with a minimum of seven years of satisfactory driving history and no DUIs in the last five years.
  • Minimum of two years of experience operating backhoes, front-end loaders, tractors, jackhammers, asphalt wagons, and other related equipment.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment street repair equipment test on backhoes, front-end loaders, and other heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge and skill in laying brick and pouring concrete.
  • Knowledge of basic carpentry skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a municipal or public works setting.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures for operating heavy equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
