Job Overview

Baldwin Paving Company, Inc. is seeking qualified individuals with a valid CDL Class A license to fulfill the role of Flatbed Truck Driver. This position is full-time and reports directly to the Grading & Pipe Site Foreman.

Position Summary

The driver will engage in various tasks related to the distribution of equipment and materials, necessitating a CDL-A license.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, route, and transport construction materials and equipment.
  • Inspect and assess incoming materials for damage and repair needs.
  • Determine suitable handling methods and equipment for moving items.
  • Prepare and manage necessary documentation and dispatch processes.
  • Maintain accurate logs, records, and reports for transportation activities.
  • Ensure proper labeling and documentation for all shipments.
  • Assist the Foreman in determining freight shipping requirements.
  • Analyze technical transportation needs and requirements.
  • Navigate vehicles in tight spaces and uneven terrain.
  • Operate vehicles on various road types and manage braking systems effectively.
  • Ensure secure loading and distribution of cargo.
  • Transport bulky items with appropriate load management.
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks on assigned vehicles.
  • Maintain the vehicle's appearance and readiness for inspections.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Work Environment

  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and equipment.
  • Work environment may be noisy.
  • Exposure to dust, fumes, and various weather conditions.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move items up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity and strength required for equipment operation.
  • Capable of standing, bending, kneeling, or sitting for extended periods.

Additional Requirements

Must exhibit a professional demeanor towards colleagues and the public. Flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed. Adherence to safety protocols is mandatory. Willingness to collaborate with team members and assist with various tasks is essential.

Personal Protective Equipment

Compliance with PPE requirements as per OSHA and company policy is necessary. This may include coveralls, hard hats, gloves, and other safety gear.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience driving with a CDL.
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Possession of a valid, unrestricted Class A License.

All applicants must have a clean record in the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse. This is a full-time position.
