Job Summary

The Business Development Manager is a technical sales representative based out of the Carol Stream, IL location. They work with assigned markets and customers to promote a variety of plant services with a primary emphasis on laser engraving and consumer goods product sales.

  • Pursues new business prospects and develops strong consultative relationships with existing customers.
  • Responds to customer RFQs and actively manages all quote opportunities in SAP.
  • Sells the combined offerings of Standex Engraving (chemical, laser, tool finishing, etc.) and provides customers with technical support and solutions.
  • Manages the details of upcoming jobs to ensure that tools are ready to move through the texturing process when they arrive in our facility.
  • Accurately and timely disseminates information.
  • Performs other activities as required in support of the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, business, sales/marketing, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a laser sales and consumer goods product, or a similar technical and/or sales role.
  • 3+ years of experience in the automotive industry, tool/mold shops, and texturing.
  • Some local travel (approximately 25-35%).

  • Professional presence and demeanor.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage several priorities with tool shops, Tier 1 suppliers, molders, and OEMs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to be flexible and adaptable to both internal and external customer needs.
  • Ability to influence through effective communication (presentations, written and verbal communications).
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite products and internet navigation.
