Job Description

The Assistant General Manager is responsible for addressing guest concerns in a timely and appropriate manner, creating a face and connection to our guests and the hotel. This position requires an individual to actively participate throughout the property on a daily basis, working as part of a team to deliver hospitable service that is attentive, friendly, efficient, and courteous, while maximizing room revenue and occupancy.

The AGM is primarily responsible for the Front Desk, Breakfast, Clock consistency (training and auditing), and Housekeeping. This role involves direct supervision of departmental employees, working in conjunction with the General Manager to ensure resolution to any and all employee-related challenges or concerns across department lines, while adhering to the property and Lark Hotels policies.

The AGM is responsible for hiring, training, reviewing, and disciplining departmental personnel, ensuring all employee paperwork is filled out and communicated appropriately. This role also involves providing daily, weekly, and monthly departmental reports as required.

The AGM works closely with the GM and Director of Revenue to update, monitor, and manage selling strategies and product information in all available distribution channels and reservation sources. This role involves conducting ongoing competitor price and product analyses to ensure proper rate positioning and product offering relative to competition.

The AGM is responsible for maximizing room revenue with strong selling practices, providing creative thinking to constantly improve the Inn's product and service. This role involves maintaining all rates, packages, and promotions so that they are current and relevant online and in Clock.

The AGM ensures the collection and accountability of all revenues that interact with the front desk, maintaining effective and efficient communication between the Front Desk and all other departments. This role involves ensuring all relevant personnel have knowledge of groups and events.

The AGM plans, designs, and directs work, addressing complaints and resolving problems. This role involves elevating employee performance through motivation, encouragement, and timely and direct feedback.

The AGM promotes proper orientation, job, and safety training, fostering a positive and cooperative work environment between staff and management. This role involves maintaining effective and efficient communication across departments.

The AGM maintains two weeks of departmental schedules, practicing fiscal responsibility in scheduling while always balancing the needs of the guest to hotel occupancies and labor budget.

This role involves performing monthly inventories of supply needs and ensuring that departmental supplies are always on hand and balanced to the needs of the Inn. The AGM controls departmental operating expenses through good practice, awareness, and controls.

The AGM engages staff daily with a 5-minute line-up, discussing successes, opportunities, and goals. This role involves participating weekly in the managers' meeting.

The AGM is responsible for proper maintenance, operation, and training of all departmental systems, including Clock, credit card terminal, printers, copiers, telephones, and time-clock. This role involves learning basic hotel maintenance to troubleshoot.

The AGM communicates consistently with the GM and department heads on the status of operations and guest concerns.

This role involves other duties as assigned by the GM and Lark Hotels.

40 hours per week January - April and October - December, 50-55 hours per week May - September.
