Security Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Assistant to join our team at MSCCN. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring adequate equipping and funding for Security Forces mission and training requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Manage Security Forces squadron equipment, including directing, obtaining, maintaining, and providing for proper usage.
- Analyze the combat readiness of the squadron through evaluation of training and equipment.
- Manage day-to-day Security Forces budget activities, including tracking funds distribution, reconciling commitments/obligations, and reallocating organizational funds.
- Manage the government credit card and maintain formal accounting records of each purchase.
- Keep up-to-date account balances and maintain a wide range of budgetary methods, practices, policies, procedures, regulations, and precedents.
To be eligible for this position, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, to include the Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Clerical and Administrative Support Positions for the GS Security Clerical and Assistance Series 0086.
Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience which is equivalent to Federal experience at the next lower grade (GS-05) level or equivalent and is described in detail in your resume.
An example of creditable specialized experience includes general administrative and/or clerical skills, practical knowledge of specific security objectives, programs, methods, and procedures, and skills in carrying out support tasks related to security administration.
External applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience which is equivalent to Federal experience at the next lower grade (GS-06) level or equivalent and is described in detail in your resume.
An example of creditable specialized experience includes general administrative and/or clerical skills, practical knowledge of specific security objectives, programs, methods, and procedures, and skills in carrying out support tasks related to security administration.
Federal time-in-grade (TIG) requirement for General Schedule (GS) positions applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
One year at the GS-05 level is required for Current and Prior Federal Employees to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level.
One year at the GS-06 level is required for External Employees to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level.
TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or competencies in the following areas:
- Knowledge of a range of security forces policies, procedures, and practices.
- Knowledge of overall security forces missions, functions, and structure.
- Knowledge of a wide range of budgetary methods, practices, policies, procedures, regulations, and precedents.
- Knowledge of automated data management systems.
- Ability to conduct surveys, assessments, and evaluations of SF equipment inventory utilization to determine unit combat readiness and the return on investment value for future management decisions.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Part-time or unpaid experience: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and/or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
Volunteer work experience: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
