Job Summary

The Human Resources Manager is a key member of the Upstate Niagara Cooperative, Inc. team, responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated Plants. This role requires a strong understanding of human resources principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with Plant Managers to deliver value-added HR services that reflect the business objectives of the organization.
  • Create an effective work environment in designated Plants, assisting management with integrating employees into Upstate Niagara culture.
  • Provide hands-on guidance and strategic input on employee relations issues, conflict management, talent management, coaching and development, compensation, benefits, organizational development, and training.
  • Establish and drive HR programs and initiatives that align with the company's strategic plan and objectives.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, conduct thorough and objective investigations, and advise management on disciplinary actions.
  • Coordinate and implement the company's Employee Recognition Program and support all safety initiatives.
  • Partner with Payroll, HRIS, Talent Acquisition, Compensation, and Benefit functions as needed.
  • Facilitate new hire on-boarding process, complete daily evaluations, and provide HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Attend LMC meetings, contract negotiation meetings, and participate in union grievances, mediations, and arbitrations as needed.
  • Provide guidance and input on workforce planning and succession planning, identify training needs, and evaluate and monitor training programs.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years' HR experience.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years' Union experience.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent time management, and ability to plan and set priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills.
