$62,000.00 To 67,000.00 Annually

Merola Tile is a prominent national distributor of tiles, dedicated to importing high-quality, trendsetting, and emotionally resonant tiles from various global sources to cater to a diverse flooring market.

The New Jersey division of Merola Tile employs around 130 individuals and distributes tiles across the U.S.

and Canada through various channels, including The Home Depot, independently owned tile showrooms, and numerous e-commerce platforms under the Merola Tile, SomerTile, and Elite Tile brand names.

Role and Responsibilities

Utilize your enthusiasm for people, systems, and processes to manage the essential daily HR functions of recruiting suitable team members for our organization while fostering a work environment aligned with the Merola Fundamentals.

Collaborate with the HR management team to drive and support HR initiatives, including talent acquisition, benefits administration, compensation, compliance, employee onboarding and offboarding, performance management processes, policies, safety programs, and other employee lifecycle-related programs.

Offer support and guidance to leadership and staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive inquiries and issues arise; may be required to handle routine tasks in delicate situations, such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of misconduct, and terminations.

Oversee leaves of absence, ensuring employees receive proper notifications and information regarding leave, and that the necessary documentation is maintained for HR to manage the process effectively.

Facilitate the use of HR systems.

Coordinate HR interactions across various teams as necessary, including Payroll, IT, external legal counsel, and other departments within the organization.

Ensure confidentiality, accuracy, security, and timely maintenance of HR data.
Assist in planning and implementing employee training programs.
Support the organization of company events.
Maintain employee personnel files and other HR documentation.
Secondary Responsibilities

Keep the company policy manual updated and accessible, ensuring that written policies reflect actual workplace practices. Draft new or amend existing company policies as directed and ensure that any changes are communicated to employees. Review for accuracy.

Stay informed about trends, best practices, and changes in human resources and employment law regulations.

Encourage continuous improvement through leadership, guidance, and education.

Perform additional tasks and duties as needed or requested by management.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
A minimum of three years of experience in human resource management.
A bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is required.
Strong understanding of HR practices, state and federal legislation related to employment practices, and general HR administration.
Proven experience and ability to coach employees and management through complex issues.
Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel).

Physical Requirements:
Regularly stand/sit for extended periods, operate office equipment, perform light to moderate lifting, lift/move up to 15 lbs. occasionally, bend, twist, and maintain proper posture. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the role.
