Overview

The Wireless Connectivity Silicon team is seeking skilled firmware test engineers to uphold the quality of cutting-edge wireless silicon utilized in Apple's product lineup.

Responsibilities

- Partner with firmware, radio, MAC, and systems engineering teams to create a comprehensive firmware testing strategy that guarantees the stability, reliability, functionality, and performance of Apple's wireless silicon and associated products.
- Establish testing infrastructure and continuous integration processes for both pre-silicon development and post-silicon validation, including regression testing on a nightly, weekly, and release basis.
- Engage in the development of test plans, set up manual and automated testing scripts, generate test reports, and analyze test logs to identify and troubleshoot failures.
- Construct pre-silicon and post-silicon reference board testing environments, along with production-specific test configurations.
- Formulate firmware test cases and testing methodologies.
- Innovate solutions to enhance automation and execution efficiency.
- Assist in debugging and issue reproduction, collaborating with system QA to gather logs and statistics, and conducting debug tests with specific firmware builds.
- Create dashboards for test results and facilitate bug triage discussions.

Key Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience as a firmware test engineer in the silicon domain.
  • Proficient in developing and executing automated testing and continuous integration frameworks.
  • Experience in white box testing of firmware/software, including the design, implementation, documentation, and maintenance of test plans.
  • Skilled in scripting and debugging using languages such as Python, Perl, TCL, C++, or similar.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities: adept at investigating test failures and build issues, driving them to resolution.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative setting and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with embedded software principles and low-level hardware interfaces.
  • Knowledge of wireless protocols, systems/MAC/PHY, and testing for WiFi/BT functionality, performance, or stability.
Education & Experience

Requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

Compensation & Benefits
  • At Apple, base pay is just one component of our comprehensive compensation package, which is determined within a specified range. This structure allows for growth as you advance in your role. The base pay range for this position is between $175,800 and $312,200, depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

    Employees at Apple also have the opportunity to become shareholders through participation in discretionary employee stock programs. Eligible employees may receive discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
