The Wireless Connectivity Silicon team is in search of skilled firmware test engineers to uphold the quality of cutting-edge wireless silicon utilized in Apple's product lineup.

Role Overview

As a Wireless Firmware Test Engineer, you will:

  • Collaborate with firmware, radio, MAC, and systems engineering teams to formulate a comprehensive firmware testing strategy that guarantees the stability, reliability, functional accuracy, and performance of Apple's wireless silicon firmware and associated products.
  • Establish testing infrastructure and continuous integration processes for both pre-silicon development and post-silicon validation, including regression testing on a nightly, weekly, and release basis.
  • Engage in the development of test plans, manual and automated test setups/scripts, and the publication of test reports while collecting test logs and performing initial assessments of test failures.
  • Construct reference board test setups for both pre-silicon and post-silicon phases, as well as for production-specific testing.
  • Create firmware test cases and methodologies that enhance testing efficiency.
  • Innovate solutions that tackle automation and execution challenges.
  • Assist in debugging and issue reproduction, collaborating with system QA to resolve bugs, collect logs/statistics, and execute debug tests with debug firmware builds.
  • Develop test result dashboards and participate in bug triage meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

Key Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience as a silicon firmware test engineer.
  • Proficient in developing and executing automated testing and continuous integration frameworks.
  • Experience in firmware/software white box testing, including test plan design, implementation, documentation, and maintenance.
  • Skilled in scripting and debugging using languages such as Python, Perl, TCL, C++, or similar.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities: capable of investigating test failures, errors, and build issues, driving them to resolution.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with embedded software fundamentals and low-level hardware interfaces.
  • Knowledge of wireless protocols, systems/MAC/PHY, and testing for WiFi/BT functionality, performance, or stability.

Preferred Qualifications

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
