Position Overview

The Wireless Connectivity Silicon team at Apple Inc. is seeking experienced firmware test engineers to contribute to the quality assurance of cutting-edge wireless silicon utilized in our innovative products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Firmware, Radio, MAC, and Systems engineering teams to formulate a comprehensive firmware testing strategy aimed at ensuring the stability, reliability, functional accuracy, and performance of wireless silicon firmware and associated products.
  • Design and implement testing infrastructure and continuous integration processes for both pre-silicon development and post-silicon validation, including regression testing on a nightly, weekly, and release basis.
  • Engage in the development of test plans, set up manual and automated testing environments, generate test reports, and analyze test logs to identify and troubleshoot failures.
  • Construct reference board test setups for both pre-silicon and post-silicon phases, as well as production-specific testing configurations.
  • Create and refine firmware test cases and methodologies to enhance testing efficiency.
  • Innovate solutions to address automation challenges and improve execution processes.
  • Assist in debugging and reproducing issues, collaborating with system QA teams on bug reproduction, data collection, and executing debug tests with specialized firmware builds.
  • Develop dashboards for test results and actively participate in bug triage discussions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Over 5 years of demonstrated experience as a firmware test engineer in the silicon domain.
  • Proficiency in developing and executing automated testing frameworks and continuous integration systems.
  • Experience in white box testing of firmware/software, including the design, implementation, documentation, and maintenance of test plans.
  • Strong scripting and debugging skills in languages such as Python, Perl, TCL, C++, or similar.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities, capable of analyzing and resolving test failures and build issues effectively.
  • A collaborative mindset, comfortable working within cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of embedded software principles and low-level hardware interfaces.
  • Familiarity with wireless protocols, systems/MAC/PHY, and testing for WiFi/BT functionality, performance, or stability.

Preferred Qualifications

Education: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree combined with 10 years of relevant experience.
