The Mechanical Engineer within KLJ's Oil & Gas Division will focus on the design, development, and maintenance of mechanical systems and machinery utilized in the energy sector. This role is crucial in ensuring that all equipment complies with industry standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and evaluate mechanical systems and machinery for energy extraction and processing.
  • Supervise the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment such as pumps, compressors, and turbines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance the performance of mechanical systems.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, maintenance manuals, and project reports.
  • Provide technical support and guidance throughout project planning and execution phases.
  • Stay updated on technological advancements and implement innovative solutions to improve efficiency and sustainability.

This position also involves providing technical assistance and guidance for multi-site/phase due diligence, design, development, construction, testing, and inspection of mechanical systems in infrastructure and construction projects across various sectors. Responsibilities include research, design, concept development, planning, installation, operation, maintenance, and optimal integration of automatic temperature control, air distribution, hydronic, and plumbing systems.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify methods for collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from physical work sites, surveys, blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings for project development and design.
  • Conduct professional mechanical engineering work and perform inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Develop construction and installation plans, specifications, and cost estimates; prepare safety and phasing plans, and update infrastructure layout plans requiring coordination with various stakeholders.
  • Incorporate advanced technology and modeling techniques to ensure proper installation and functioning of equipment according to specifications.
  • Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on environmental, design, and construction issues related to mechanical systems.
  • Work independently or as part of a team of engineers and planners to execute project work on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Prepare data visualizations, reports, sketches, and technical drawings for data interpretation and presentation.
  • Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate measurements and reporting.
  • Assist in the development and scoping of medium-sized projects.
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior engineers.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations that communicate research findings and recommendations.
  • Assist in the analysis and interpretation of data obtained during field investigations.
  • Manage small to mid-level projects, tracking hours and expenses.
  • Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
  • Comply with regulatory requirements regarding data integrity and documentation.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies and clients in a professional manner.
  • Stay current with the latest mechanical engineering techniques and practices.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and planners on federally and locally funded improvement projects.
  • Exercise responsible decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to professional conduct.
  • Recognize workplace hazards and take appropriate action.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Master's Degree is preferred.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in engineering and mechanical design.
  • Professional Engineering License is required.
  • Proficient knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience in building and infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
  • Knowledge of processes for reducing hazardous substances and greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Familiarity with mechanical system laws, codes, and compliance practices.
  • Ability to perform technical computations and inspections related to construction and design.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with diverse audiences.
  • Strong self-leadership and attention to detail in a dynamic work environment.
  • Proficiency in technical writing and design software.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills for data analysis and decision-making.
  • Ability to direct subcontractors and ensure task completion.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules as needed.
  • Occasional travel may be required based on project needs.
