Position Overview:

We are in search of a Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer to develop HVAC and Plumbing/Piping systems for various critical and support projects.

This position entails comprehensive planning, execution, and coordination of design phases, crafting specifications, and ensuring adherence to quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design HVAC and Plumbing/Piping systems, including calculations, process flow diagrams, and layouts for mechanical equipment along with associated duct and piping systems.
- Create mechanical construction and equipment specifications, test and inspection plans, and detailed system design descriptions.
- Employ standard techniques and methodologies for simpler projects while adapting approaches for more intricate assignments.
- Conduct engineering quality assurance evaluations of project designs.
- Assist in new project proposals with mechanical discipline scopes, budget forecasts, and timelines.
- Collaborate with and present designs to government clients at Federal, State, and Local levels.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team, coordinating tasks and collaborating with engineers, designers, and administrative personnel.
- Occasional travel to other offices or project sites, including international locations, may be necessary.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET Accredited Program (Engineering Technology degree not considered).
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- PE License.
- Capability to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance.

- Proficient experience in HVAC and plumbing/piping systems design and related engineering calculations (e.g., air-handling systems, laboratory fume hood exhaust air systems, duct systems, hydronic piping systems, natural gas piping systems, domestic water and wastewater piping systems, steam and condensate piping systems, compressed air systems, and mechanical system controls).

- Experience in sizing and selecting HVAC and plumbing/piping equipment (e.g., air-handling units, fans/blowers, pumps, cooling towers, chillers, boilers, coils, HEPA filtration systems, dampers, valves, and controls).

- Proficient in drafting and writing mechanical construction and equipment specifications.
- Skilled in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Familiarity with HVAC computer load and design software such as Trane Trace; knowledge of Revit building information modeling software; and experience with AutoCAD.

- Working knowledge of ASHRAE, SMACNA, and NFPA standards, as well as IMC, IPC, and IBC codes.
- U.S. Citizenship is required for client projects.
