The Mechanical Engineer in the Oil & Gas Division will focus on the design, development, and maintenance of mechanical systems and machinery utilized in the energy sector. This role is crucial in ensuring that all equipment complies with industry standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and evaluate mechanical systems and equipment for oil and gas extraction and processing.
  • Supervise the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of machinery such as pumps, compressors, and turbines.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams to enhance the performance of mechanical systems.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, maintenance manuals, and project reports.
  • Provide technical support and guidance during project planning and execution phases.
  • Stay updated on technological advancements and implement innovative solutions to improve efficiency and sustainability.

This position also involves offering technical assistance and guidance for multi-site/phase due diligence, design, development, building, testing, and inspection of mechanical systems in infrastructure and construction projects across various sectors. Responsibilities include research, design, concept development, planning, installation, operation, maintenance, and optimal integration of automatic temperature control, air distribution, hydronic, and plumbing systems.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Identify methods for collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from physical work sites, surveys, blueprints, and technical drawings for project development.
  • Conduct professional mechanical engineering work and inspect proposed and existing site conditions to ensure compliance with applicable rules and standards.
  • Develop construction and installation plans, specifications, and cost estimates while coordinating with owners and other disciplines.
  • Incorporate advanced technology and modeling techniques to ensure proper installation and functioning of equipment according to specifications.
  • Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on environmental, design, and construction issues related to mechanical systems.
  • Work independently or as part of a cross-functional team to execute project work on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Prepare data visualizations and reports for the interpretation of findings or analyses.
  • Maintain quality control standards for accurate measurements and reporting.
  • Assist with the development and scoping of medium-sized projects.
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior engineers.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate research findings and recommendations.
  • Assist in the analysis and interpretation of data obtained during field investigations.
  • Manage small to mid-level projects, tracking hours and expenses.
  • Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to data integrity and documentation.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies and clients in a professional manner.
  • Stay current with the latest mechanical engineering techniques and practices.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and planners on projects funded by various authorities.
  • Exercise responsible decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to professional conduct.
  • Recognize workplace hazards and take appropriate action.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Master's Degree is preferred.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in engineering and mechanical design.
  • Professional Engineering License is required.
  • Proficient knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience in building and infrastructure planning and construction management.
  • Familiarity with regulations and compliance practices related to mechanical systems.
  • Ability to conduct inspections and investigations applying relevant regulations.
  • Effective communication skills for interaction with diverse audiences.
  • Strong self-leadership and attention to detail in a dynamic work environment.
  • Proficiency in technical writing and design software.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to apply technical knowledge effectively.
  • Ability to lead subcontractors and ensure task completion safely.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules as project needs dictate.
  • Occasional travel may be required based on project needs.
