Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to join our team at the State of Oregon. This is a limited duration position scheduled to end June 30, 2027. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing project management expertise to the Oregon Department of Education, primarily related to the State School Fund system modernization initiative.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide professional project management methodologies and expertise on assigned projects.
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners to obtain authorization, arrange commitments, and initiate projects.
  • Manage assigned projects with varying lengths ranging from several months to multi-year.
  • Lead and coordinate activities of project teams that are made up of internal and external staff.
  • Lead the State School Fund Modernization Project as part of the project portfolio.
Requirements:

Seven years of professional level experience related to project management OR Six years of professional level experience related to project management AND an Oregon Project Management Associate Certification OR Four years of professional level experience related to project management AND a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, or a closely related field OR Two years of professional level experience AND Project Management Professional Certification awarded by the Project Management Institute.

Preferred Attributes:
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects and following PMI PMBOK standards.
  • Demonstrated skill managing a project through a full lifecycle of initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, and controlling and closing.
  • Skill and experience in creation of foundational project artifacts (e.g., project charters, schedules, plans, issues and risk logs, status reports).
  • Proficiency in facilitating meetings and conversations and the ability to articulate expected outcomes, issues, risks, and next steps.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and cross culturally in writing, in-person, or virtually.
