ERM is in search of a dedicated Staff Environmental Geologist / Hydrogeologist to contribute to our consulting firm. The ideal candidate will engage in a range of compelling site investigation and remediation initiatives at various industrial locations. This position offers a valuable opportunity to collaborate with ERM's technical specialists, utilizing cutting-edge investigation and remediation methodologies while gaining essential experience towards professional registration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute fieldwork tasks, which include:
  • Overseeing subcontractors;
  • Drilling, characterizing, and sampling soil and bedrock;
  • Installing monitoring wells and excavating test pits;
  • Sampling soil, sediment, surface water, groundwater, and sanitary systems;
  • Employing surface and borehole geophysical techniques;
  • Conducting aquifer tests, including slug tests, packer tests, step-drawdown, and tracer tests;
  • Monitoring the performance of remedial systems.
  • Assist in planning project activities, including health and safety oversight.
  • Document data and aid in the technical presentation of findings; prepare reports, tables, graphs, charts, and hydrogeologic maps.
  • Analyze complex three-dimensional groundwater flow issues in both overburden and fractured bedrock aquifers.
  • Conduct topical research and ensure adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Understand and comply with budgetary and scheduling expectations as well as the scope of assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology, or a related field; a Master's degree is advantageous.
  • Recent graduates or candidates with up to 2 years of experience, demonstrating a willingness to engage in field assignments.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with organizational and analytical capabilities; experience in documenting and drafting detailed technical reports is a plus.
  • Commitment to safety, including adherence to established Health and Safety protocols and maintaining a clean driving record.
  • Experience with GIS is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Completion of 40-hour HAZWOPER training.
  • Capacity to thrive in a consulting environment, managing multiple project assignments while maintaining flexibility and meeting strict deadlines.
  • Preference for local candidates.
