The Division of Family and Child Health (DFCH) is responsible for creating and overseeing programs, policies, services, and environments that support physical and socio-emotional health, and promote primary and reproductive health services, health equity, social justice, safety, and well-being for New York City families and children.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Abortion Services Navigator to provide critical support to individuals seeking abortion services, connecting them with resources and providers to ensure access to safe and legal care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Answer telephone calls from individuals seeking abortion services, conducting brief scripted interviews and needs assessments to determine their requirements.
  • Provide warm handoffs to abortion care providers, navigators, financial assistance resources, and other relevant services.
  • Reinforce messages that abortion is safe, legal, and available in NYC.
  • Collect and record information into the data system, following approved scripts and protocols.
  • Maintain daily communication with supervisors and protect individuals' privacy and confidentiality.
Requirements
  • High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community-centered activities in an area related to duties described above.
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to the above.
Preferred Skills
  • Health-related professional experience or public health training.
  • Ability to demonstrate a professional, positive attitude and work ethic.
  • Understanding of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with people from diverse backgrounds.
