About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Travel Sales Counselor to join our team at AAA Northern California, Nevada & Utah. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional travel sales and support experiences to our members while attracting new clientele and building a book of business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sales and Customer Service: Sell international and domestic vacation packages, cruises, tours, hotel, car rental, rail, and air travel to our members.
  • Research and Product Knowledge: Research, evaluate, and compare appropriate travel packages to match up with member needs, staying current with world events and latest travel industry developments and trends.
  • Travel Document Processing: Process and interpret travel documents for members purchasing travel products with AAA and inform them of governmental requirements.
  • Business Development: Initiate contact with members and past customers to prospect for new business and encourage repeat business.
  • Cross-Selling: Cross-sell products and services, such as insurance (P&C, Life), new membership accounts, etc.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, 2 years of recent experience selling international and domestic travel services (preferred), Travel Institute certification as CTA, CTC, or CTIE (preferred).
  • Skills and Abilities: Basic computer skills, industry-specific applications, and telephone skills, GDS experience required (Apollo/Galileo/Travelport), knowledge of travel products and worldwide geography, strong consultative selling skills, and bilingual communication skills (a plus).
Work Environment
  • Office Environment: Works in an office environment sitting at a desk, table, or computer workstation for extended periods of time.
  • Travel: May travel by car, plane, or other form of transportation to attend business meetings or conferences.
Compensation and Incentives

This role is subject to an incentive plan that includes commissions and/or piece rate bonuses. While top performers earn more, we expect most employees to earn between $0 - $38,000 annually in incentives, contingent on performance. New Travel Counselors are eligible for a bonus guarantee for the first five quarters.
