Job Summary

This position plays a crucial role in achieving sales goals and driving business growth for Sysco - Newport Meat Northern California. As a Sales Consultant, you will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with existing and prospective customers, promoting our products and services, and identifying new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain relationships with customers to generate new business and increase sales revenue
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to meet or exceed sales targets
  • Conduct in-person visits and presentations to existing and prospective customers to promote our products and services
  • Take customer orders with the goal of maximizing sales and profitability
  • React timely to customer problems and needs, and provide solutions to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Review and analyze sales and margin reports to identify areas for improvement
  • Stay up-to-date on product applications, technical services, market conditions, and competitive activities
  • Participate in sales meetings and training events to stay informed and aligned with company goals
Requirements
  • High school diploma required; 4-year degree in culinary arts, business, marketing, agriculture/animal science, or related field preferred
  • 2-year prior food service and/or sales background strongly preferred
  • Deep expertise in meat and seafood category or restaurant/culinary background with a proven ability to quickly learn and apply new knowledge
  • Consultative sales ability and strong customer relations skills
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with MS Outlook
Decision-Making Authority

This role requires the ability to make decisions independently, including:

  • Approach to building relationships with customers/stakeholders
  • Time and customer management
  • Customer pricing
  • Self-motivation

Decisions requiring review and approval from supervisors include:

  • Sales strategy
  • Contract pricing and customer pricing
  • Authorizing credits and returns
Organizational Reporting

This role reports to the Sales VP, Director, or Manager at Sysco - Newport Meat Northern California.
