JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The CBRN Operations Specialist provides essential technical expertise and analytical support for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) equipment utilized in military operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring the readiness and operational efficiency of CBRN systems, thereby enhancing the capabilities of military personnel in the field. The specialist will work closely with leadership to design and implement targeted training programs, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and operational standards.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver technical assessments on CBRN equipment, from complex systems to individual components.
  • Conduct maintenance and repairs on CBRN systems to uphold operational readiness and safety compliance.
  • Perform routine inspections and manage inventory to ensure accountability of CBRN assets.
  • Assess newly acquired equipment to confirm it meets mission specifications.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, including maintenance logs and equipment status reports.
  • Ensure accurate tracking of government-furnished equipment (GFE) through proper record-keeping.
  • Execute regular audits of CBRN storage facilities and transport vehicles to guarantee safety compliance.
  • Provide detailed parts lists for initial equipment deployment and special orders.
  • Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams for timely acquisition and transport of CBRN assets.
  • Offer technical support and troubleshooting for CBRN-related challenges.
  • Conduct specialized tasks on equipment as necessary, following established protocols.
  • Train personnel on the correct operation and maintenance of CBRN systems.
  • Develop and implement training programs focused on CBRN equipment operation and repair.
  • Coordinate training initiatives for approval, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Participate in drills and exercises to evaluate CBRN equipment readiness.
  • Facilitate effective communication among logistics contacts, commanders, and contractor staff to ensure operational coordination.
  • Assist in preparing deployment plans for CBRN equipment, adhering to regulatory requirements.
  • Engage with various stakeholders, including military units and government agencies, to support CBRN equipment needs.
  • Promote a safe working environment by maintaining hazard-free conditions and reporting unsafe situations.
  • Manage warehouse float stock and perform monthly inventory checks.
  • Ensure prompt delivery of inventory to shipping docks upon requisition approval.
  • Address discrepancies in shipments promptly and maintain communication with vendors.
  • Provide sustainment support for unique National Guard Bureau equipment.
  • Maintain operational stocks by replenishing authorized items and training sets.
  • Prepare and deploy FAST packages to incident sites as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • In-depth knowledge of CBRN equipment operations and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with regulations governing hazardous materials.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Understanding of plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in military terminology and concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Expertise in CBRN processes and procedures.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Must be a United States citizen.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Non-Military Personnel:
    1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field.
    2. Five years of experience in a related discipline.
  • Prior Military Personnel:
    1. Senior Non-Commissioned Officer with five years of experience, or
    2. Company Grade Officer with three years of experience in a related field.
  • Experience in delivering presentations to both civilian and military audiences.
  • Hazmat Technician certification.
  • Prior experience in CBRN operations or related fields.
  • Experience in inventory management practices.
  • Experience in small engine operations and maintenance.
  • Experience in operating and instructing on CBRN equipment.
PREFERRED:
  • Non-Military Personnel:
    1. Master's degree in a relevant scientific field.
    2. Seven years of experience in a related discipline.
  • Prior Military Personnel:
    1. Senior Non-Commissioned Officer with seven years of experience, or
    2. Company Grade Officer with five years of experience in a related field.
  • Certification or training in CBRN equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Certification in hazardous materials management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Flexibility to work a rotating schedule as needed.
