Key Responsibilities:
  • Document nursing assessments and patient education in the medical record.
  • Communicate all relevant information and interventions to the physician.
  • Ensure nursing charges are accurate and complete on patient billing slips.
  • Provide professional nursing care for patients in accordance with established standards and practices.
  • Act as a resource for medical assistants.
  • Triaging patient phone inquiries as necessary and documenting pertinent information in the patient's record.
  • Assess patient and family needs, providing educational materials and resources.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of community resources available to patients and assist with referrals as needed.
  • Manage patient medication refill requests from pharmacies.
  • Engage in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
  • Collaborate closely regarding patient care needs for clinic patients seen by both MDs and APPs.
  • Provide psychosocial and emotional support to patients, referring them to appropriate resources.
  • Deliver comprehensive education for both IV and oral chemotherapy.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality while administering chemotherapy and other therapeutic agents.
  • Ensure efficient patient flow within the clinic.
  • Facilitate dose adjustments by assessing patients and lab results, consulting treatment protocols, calculating dosages, and discussing with physicians regarding modifications and symptom management.
  • Act as a resource for MA and LPN staff.
  • Triaging patient phone calls as necessary and documenting relevant information in the patient's chart.
  • Assess patient and family needs, providing teaching, instructional materials, and community resource information.
  • Cross-train in collaborative nursing areas as opportunities arise.

Qualifications:
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
  • Current MN licensure and registration required.
  • Current or pending OCN certification preferred.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • 2-3 years of nursing experience with IV experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications is required.
