Community Engagement Manager Job Announcement

The Texas Campaign for the Environment Fund (TCE Fund) and its affiliated organization, Texas Campaign for the Environment (TCE), are in search of a Community Engagement Manager who possesses a wealth of experience in mentoring organizers and executing grassroots initiatives.

Overview

The Community Engagement Manager collaborates closely with the Organizing Director to guide and enhance our team of community organizers situated across various regions. This role is pivotal in coaching, managing, and nurturing organizers while contributing to the strategic planning and implementation of community engagement campaigns.

Location

This position requires residency in Texas and a willingness to engage in fieldwork as necessary. Our regional offices are distributed across multiple locations, and this role operates in a hybrid capacity, incorporating both remote work and in-office responsibilities. Expect significant travel within Texas, along with occasional travel beyond state lines.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $63,000 - $73,000.

Key Responsibilities

Organizer Management and Development:
  • Oversee and mentor a team of community organizers, offering guidance, constructive feedback, and support to enhance their skills and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with the Organizing Director to identify optimal strategies for supporting the growth and development of the organizing team while empowering local communities to achieve campaign objectives.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one sessions with organizers to review progress, address challenges, and explore opportunities for professional development.
  • Facilitate training workshops on essential topics such as organizing techniques, leadership growth, campaign strategy, issue identification, coalition building, and other relevant practices.
  • Assist organizers in establishing both in-person and digital outreach systems that complement each other.
Campaign and Structural Support:
  • Work alongside the Organizing Director and other stakeholders to formulate and execute organizing strategies and campaigns that align with TCE's vision for environmental justice and a pollution-free Texas.
  • Support organizers in the planning and execution of impactful community outreach initiatives, including canvassing, phone banking, digital outreach, and community events.
  • Provide guidance to organizers in identifying, recruiting, and nurturing community leaders and activists.
Data and Reporting:
  • Ensure precise and timely data collection and reporting on organizing activities, tracking metrics such as outreach efforts, volunteer involvement, and campaign progress.
  • Analyze data and prepare regular reports for the Organizing Director and other stakeholders, emphasizing successes, challenges, and areas for enhancement.
Qualifications and Core Competencies:
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in community organizing, grassroots mobilization, or related fields.
  • Supervisory experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership, team management, and coaching abilities.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in campaign planning, strategy formulation, and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with organizing principles, tactics, and best practices.
  • Ability to engage effectively with diverse communities and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in standard office software and Google tools.
  • Experience utilizing social media as an organizing tool to support in-person efforts is preferred.

Compensation

The annual salary range is $63,000 - $73,000, commensurate with experience. The benefits package includes comprehensive insurance coverage (medical/dental/vision with partial employer contribution), an HSA account with employer contributions, paid time off, flexible/compensatory time, paid holidays, and a retirement plan with employer matching contributions.
