Job Overview:

Amentum is seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our dynamic team focused on Hypersonics and Strategic Missions Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E). This role is essential in supporting the Naval Surface Warfare Center at Crane, Indiana.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a technical representative during the unpacking, installation, and verification of system support equipment and developmental assets.
  • Collaborate with government personnel and engineers to facilitate the installation and removal of sensitive systems and equipment.
  • Contribute to the creation of process and procedure documentation.
  • Proactively identify potential issues, escalate them to the appropriate channels, and propose solutions for engineering review.
  • Oversee the unpackaging of test system assets and support equipment at designated testing locations.
  • Engage in the mobilization, demobilization, and execution of installation and verification of systems and support equipment at test sites.
  • Conduct post-installation verifications in accordance with established procedures.
  • Support system and subsystem testing, which may involve travel to various test locations as required.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to inform on maintenance needs and modifications for support equipment.
  • Demonstrate hands-on expertise with a variety of hand tools and mechanical equipment, along with the ability to read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings and BOMs.
  • Exhibit advanced technical knowledge in field operations and procedures related to mechanical assembly, with a strong attention to detail.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active Secret Security Clearance is required (US citizenship is necessary to obtain a Secret Clearance).
  • Technical training and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience as a mechanical technician or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to comprehend and tackle new engineering designs effectively.
  • Capability to work independently while fostering collaboration with customers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Navy weapon systems.
  • Proven experience in supporting large Department of Defense technical programs.
