Overview

The Engineering Technician position is crucial for providing specialized engineering support. This role involves engaging in intricate and distinctive engineering tasks that are essential for the successful integration of military and commercial systems.

Key Responsibilities

The Engineering Technician will undertake assignments that may not be entirely standardized, selecting or modifying established procedures or equipment as necessary. The technician will:

  • Assemble or disassemble components related to undersea sensors, adapting standard equipment as needed.
  • Follow detailed layouts, procedures, and diagrams to construct, deconstruct, and package sensor components and subunits.
  • Conduct various electrical and mechanical tests, which may involve minor adjustments to testing setups or procedures, while accurately recording test data.
  • Extract and compile diverse engineering data from various sources, ensuring accuracy and consistency in data presentation.
  • Assist in design modifications by gathering relevant data on specifications and materials related to undersea sensor equipment.
  • Utilize judgment and initiative to identify inconsistencies in data and seek clarification when necessary.

Qualifications

A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with at least five (5) years of relevant experience. Candidates with prior experience in a similar environment will be given preference.

Essential skills include:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with colleagues and external contacts.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities and sound judgment, with the capacity to work independently or collaboratively.

Physical Requirements

Candidates must be capable of lifting weights ranging from 15 to 25 pounds and should be able to stand and walk for extended periods. The role may also require occasional twisting, bending, and squatting.

Security Clearance

Applicants must be eligible to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level, with preference given to those who already possess an Active Secret clearance. US Citizenship is a requirement for this clearance.
