Job Overview:

Amentum is seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in supporting the Naval Surface Warfare Center's Hypersonics and Strategic Missions Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a technical representative during the unpacking, installation, and verification of system support equipment and developmental assets.
  • Collaborate with government personnel and engineers for the installation and removal of sensitive systems and equipment.
  • Contribute to the creation of process and procedure documentation.
  • Proactively identify and escalate issues, providing potential solutions for engineering consideration.
  • Conduct unpackaging of test system assets and support equipment at designated testing locations.
  • Engage in the mobilization, demobilization, and execution of system installations and checkouts at test sites.
  • Perform post-installation evaluations in line with established procedures.
  • Support system and subsystem testing, which may involve travel to various test sites.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to inform on maintenance needs and modifications for support equipment.
  • Utilize a range of hand tools and mechanical equipment, demonstrating the ability to read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings and BOMs.
  • Exhibit advanced technical knowledge in field operations and procedures related to mechanical assembly, with a strong focus on detail.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active Secret Security Clearance is required (U.S. citizenship is necessary to obtain this clearance).
  • Technical training and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience as a mechanical technician or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong capability to understand and tackle new engineering designs.
  • Ability to work independently while facilitating collaboration with customers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Navy weapon systems.
  • Proven experience in supporting large Department of Defense technical programs.
