Job Purpose/Summary:

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing both scheduled and unscheduled mechanical maintenance on various equipment, including pumps, valves, gearboxes, mixers, engines, and other tools related to crude oil operations. This role also involves maintaining accurate maintenance records in accordance with Plains Field Operations standards. The position may require call-outs for tasks associated with field operations or emergency responses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine and non-routine maintenance on positive displacement pumps, meters, centrifugal pumps, gear pumps, tank mixers, valves, and small engines.
  • Change gear lubricants, monitor and replace oil in pumps, check oil temperatures, inspect valves, and perform D.O.T. inspections.
  • Complete necessary administrative documents and forms as required by the company and regulatory agencies, ensuring maintenance records are current.
  • Assess wear and repair needs of pipeline equipment, providing recommendations for necessary maintenance.
  • Execute additional pipeline-related tasks as assigned by the Operations or Maintenance Supervisor.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of engine and pump equipment operations, repair, and maintenance.
  • Experience with micrometers, calipers, tolerances, clearances, and related equipment operating parameters.
  • Basic electrical knowledge is essential; familiarity with welding procedures is advantageous.
  • Intermediate computer skills are necessary for generating emails, completing forms, and undertaking online training as required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, including reading and interpreting equipment manuals and service notices.
  • Strong organizational skills and proficiency in record-keeping.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Must obtain operator qualifications as required by the Operations Supervisor and complete Haz-Mat training, safety programs, and meet minimum D.O.T. standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Physical capability to occasionally lift or carry moderately heavy equipment or parts and position them during maintenance tasks, including working in confined spaces and navigating various terrains.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying environmental conditions.
