Job Overview

Retreat Hotels and Resorts is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead the operations of our new dual-brand TownePlace / Fairfield by Marriott hotel located on the Georgia National Fairgrounds. The hotel will offer a unique opportunity for the successful candidate to shape the culture of a brand-new property and work closely with the fairgrounds.

The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of day-to-day operations, including front office, sales and marketing, housekeeping, maintenance, food and beverage, and coordination with the fairgrounds. This is a unique opportunity to lead the opening of a new hotel, create the organizational structure, direct hiring, and manage general and role-specific training for key hotel personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all aspects of hotel operations, including front office, sales and marketing, housekeeping, maintenance, food and beverage, and coordination with the fairgrounds.
  • Lead the opening of the new hotel, including creating the organizational structure, directing hiring, and managing general and role-specific training for key hotel personnel.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction scores, ensure excellent customer service, and monitor associate well-being.
  • Maintain operating budgets, regular financial reporting, and financial controls.
  • Oversee sales and marketing efforts, including working closely with the fairgrounds.
  • Highlight of this property include a pool, small outdoor venue for entertainment, full-service bar and restaurant, and enclosed, air-conditioned Hall-of-Fame walkway between the hotel and fairgrounds convention center.
  • Additional responsibilities include maintaining and improving operating procedures, setting clear objectives, employee relations, staff, budgeting and forecasting, ensuring safety and well-being of guests and associates, property maintenance, regular communication with and reporting to ownership, ensuring compliance with Marriott brand standards, and all other functions to maintain a successful operation.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years as a Hotel General Manager or appropriate senior-level role at a large, complex hotel (Marriott experience preferred)
  • Experience operating a Food Beverage outlet with alcohol
  • Experience opening a new hotel (preferred, but not required)
  • Bachelor's or Associate Degree (preferred, but not required)
  • Demonstrated track record of leadership and strong financial performance
  • Driver's license
  • Proficient with Microsoft products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and OneDrive
