Position Summary:

Under limited supervision, this role is responsible for overseeing the management of the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia's generation assets to ensure the value and cost-effectiveness of the generation portfolio. The manager will supervise field staff at various plants, ensuring that the interests of the authority are represented in jointly owned facilities. This includes managing relationships with third-party operators and being accountable for budgets, operational performance, regulatory compliance, and capital project management aimed at enhancing reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to asset managers, focusing on the effective management of co-owned generation facilities.
  • Stay informed about the operational status and availability of generating units, maintaining forecasts for planned outages.
  • Oversee compliance with contracts and ensure that the authority's interests are safeguarded in operational matters.
  • Review and approve annual plans and budgets for facilities, ensuring proper allocation of resources for maintenance and capital projects.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, submitting necessary reports to regulatory bodies.
  • Process invoices in accordance with operational agreements, ensuring timely payments.
  • Participate in insurance programs related to property and accidental outages for the facilities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience in the electric utility sector.
  • Knowledge of power generation facilities, particularly fossil fuel and gas-fired units.
  • Familiarity with accounting practices and capital project management.
  • Ability to obtain clearance for unescorted access to nuclear facilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to foster positive working relationships with team members and stakeholders.
