Miami Federal encompasses a collection of companies, all certified as Tribally owned 8(a)s by the SBA, delivering services in construction, information technology, software development, facilities management, training, event management, and environmental solutions to both defense and civilian sectors.


Key Responsibilities:
This pivotal role involves supporting federal contracting initiatives across a comprehensive range of accounting, finance, and compliance functions. The selected candidate will provide essential accounting and financial support to Tribally owned 8(a) enterprises, thriving in a multi-company setting. This position offers significant opportunities for professional advancement within a collaborative team.

This is a hybrid role requiring three days of onsite presence.

Essential Duties:
  • Manage daily and month-end closing entries, including revenue, payroll, prepaid expenses, unbilled accounts receivable, and accrued liabilities.
  • Conduct complex reconciliations for necessary balance sheet accounts and various general ledger accounts as required.
  • Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of accounting operations, recommending and enforcing internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Prepare customer invoices: CPFF, T&M, FFP; interact with clients as necessary.
  • Accurately code and process all vendor invoices in a timely manner.
  • Review all invoices for proper documentation and approval prior to payment.
  • Evaluate and process all employee expenses.
  • Support external auditors and tax accountants during year-end by preparing schedules, explaining supporting materials and procedures, and compiling any necessary data.
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end 1099 submissions.
  • Provide project management support with reports.
  • Respond to team member requests and manage deadlines effectively.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (Required) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Solid understanding of government contract accounting (Required).
  • Proficient in Costpoint (Required).
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Professional, and an enterprise system.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, discretion, and ethical standards.
  • In-depth knowledge of Accounting Principles and GAAP.
  • Familiarity with general and subsidiary ledgers and financial statements.
  • Understanding of government contract compliance regulations, particularly in the FAR and CAS (preferred).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical capabilities.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills, capable of handling multiple initiatives and client requirements.
  • Experience with 8(a) companies, especially Tribal or Alaska Native Corporations, is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of construction accounting is a plus.
