Grant Accounting Specialist

Venteon Finance is seeking a Grant Accounting Specialist for a regional non-profit client located in a nearby area.

Requirements of the Grant Accounting Specialist

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, nonprofit financial management or accounting preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional level accounting experience managing grants and nonprofit finances in a non-profit environment preferred.

Responsibilities of the Grant Accounting Specialist

  • Review financial transactions allocated to grant awards to ensure accuracy, consistent treatment, and fund availability.
  • Track and allocate direct and indirect costs to grant programs monthly, ensuring compliance with grant provisions.
  • Establish and maintain tracking systems for grant financial reporting deadlines and requirements across all funded programs, ensuring clear and consistent organization of grant finance documentation and records.
  • Ensure systems in place for allocation of grant-funded positions, analyzing expenses to ensure compliance with funder policies, including adherence to 2 CFR Part 200 for Federal Awards.
  • In coordination with other departments, draft, submit, and record grant reimbursement requests on a set schedule.
  • Prepare and submit monthly grant reimbursement requests including pulling all applicable supporting documentation, comparing to budget, and ensuring in compliance with grant requirements, following up to ensure timely receipt from funders.
  • Prepare, record, and track non-grant billings as needed.
  • Assist in preparation grant budgets as needed.
  • Monitor budget financial performance against actual results monthly, providing multi-year projections, and recommend budget revisions as necessary.
  • Prepare financial reports as requested by other departments ensuring timeliness and accuracy including financial data needed to close-out grants.
  • Assist with financial oversight and management of grant award funding and communicate with the granting agency on questions/issues.
  • Establish, maintain, foster, and develop a professional relationship with other departments.
  • Any other task relevant to these duties or the mission of the organization as assigned.
