YOUTH SUPPORT PARTNER - Full time

COMPASS HEALTH

Compass Health is seeking a dedicated Youth Support Partner to contribute to the Children's Intensive Services program.

The Children's Intensive Outpatient Services aim to assist children and their families within their community, utilizing a least restrictive approach through the Wraparound process. This method emphasizes the importance of family input and choice, identifying strengths, building natural supports, and promoting self-sufficiency. Wraparound teams deliver comprehensive behavioral health services to Medicaid-eligible individuals up to 21 years old, who face complex behavioral health challenges, along with their families. The primary objective is to ensure eligible youth can thrive in their homes and communities while minimizing or preventing disruptive out-of-home placements. Services such as assessment, treatment, and support are provided in the youth and family's natural environments, including home, school, and community settings. Families have reported positive outcomes, including enhanced stability, increased support, community connections, and renewed hope for the future.

Key Responsibilities

We are in search of an individual who can collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary treatment team to deliver a personalized, innovative, and strength-based approach aligned with the wraparound model. This role involves supporting youth and caregivers to maintain children in a community-based, least restrictive environment.

The position requires flexibility, including evening and weekend hours, working in various settings such as the office, client homes, and community locations. Youth Support Partners will engage with clients to encourage their active participation in the wraparound process, ensuring that each client's voice is heard and their unique needs are addressed. Youth Support Partners bring their personal experiences of overcoming behavioral health challenges as youth, which fosters connection and hope among the program participants.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent is required; an AA or BA Degree in a related field is preferred. Must be at least 21 years old. Completion of online modules and application for the Certified Peer Counselor credential through the Department of Health is required prior to starting. In-person/live certification must be completed within 90 days of hire; current Peer Counselor Certification is preferred. Personal experience in accessing and receiving mental health services is essential. Individuals without a license or associate license through the Washington State Department of Health must submit an Agency Affiliated Counselor application upon hire and receive approval from the DOH. Experience as a Peer Counselor is preferred. Experience in medical, mental health, or social services fields is preferred. Some knowledge of child development, behavior management, and parenting techniques, particularly in culturally diverse contexts. A valid Washington State Driver's License, along with a vehicle and appropriate insurance, is required.

Skills and Knowledge

Understanding of mental illnesses and substance dependency, along with effective strategies for managing their impacts. Familiarity with community resources. Ability to collaborate, provide peer support, and facilitate services for families receiving intensive support. Capacity to partner with consumers, mental health professionals, and the community while maintaining professional boundaries. Ability to consult with the Wraparound facilitator regarding engagement and assessment activities when necessary. Knowledge of in-home and intensive services, along with experience working with culturally diverse families, is preferred. Ability to work effectively with individuals with complex needs and involvement in multiple systems. Maintain a positive, solution-focused attitude when addressing conflicts or challenges.
