Job Title: Overnight Residential Youth Counselor

Cocoon House is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Overnight Residential Youth Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our Transitional Living Program, you will provide a safe and supportive environment for teens in our care, promoting positive interaction, life skills, and social skills.

About the Role:

  • Build strong relationships with youth and staff, fostering a positive and collaborative approach.
  • Maintain healthy boundaries and provide guidance on various lifestyles, behaviors, and cultural practices.
  • Assess emergency situations, gather information, and provide support.
  • Follow reporting and licensing policies and procedures.
  • De-escalate youth in crises and utilize anti-racist, inclusive, equity-based, and trauma-informed care.

Responsibilities:

  • Process intakes and exits for youth, provide orientation, and maintain records.
  • Partner with case managers to support youth case plans and interact with staff.
  • Supervise youth, ensure safety, and hold them accountable to policies and guidelines.
  • Assist with household tasks, meal planning, and cooking.
  • Arrange appointments, fill prescriptions, and dispense medication.
  • Communicate with other providers and respond to community calls and referrals.
  • Participate in enrichment activities and provide information for off-site services.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • 6 months of experience working with youth.
  • DCYF background clearance.
  • Acceptable driver's abstract and valid driver's license.
