Animal Care Specialist

The University of Pennsylvania is seeking a skilled Animal Care Specialist to join our team in the University Laboratory Animal Research (ULAR) department. As an Animal Care Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional care to our research animals, ensuring their health and well-being in a safe and humane manner.
Key Responsibilities- Provide daily care to laboratory animals, including feeding, watering, and cleaning cages
- Maintain accurate records of animal care and health
- Assist scientists with animal handling and procedures
- Operate and maintain sanitation and sterilization equipment
- Report any health or environmental problems to supervisor
- High school diploma or equivalent required; AALAS certification at the ALAT level preferred
- 1-2 years of experience in a laboratory animal facility or related field
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to explain problems/issues/solutions
- Service-oriented and able to work as a team member
- Able to repetitively lift 50 lbs
- Ability to stand for long periods
