We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Animal Care Specialist to join our team at Widener Hospital. As an Animal Care Specialist, you will be responsible for providing daily care and maintenance of large animals, including feeding, grooming, and walking. You will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of patient areas, as well as assisting with the movement of large animal patients and supplies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily care and maintenance of large animals, including feeding, grooming, and walking.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of patient areas, including stalls, treatment areas, and equipment.
- Assist with the movement of large animal patients and supplies, including operating a variety of motorized equipment.
- Contribute to a professional, safe, and efficient hospital environment.
- Effectively manage time and plan daily activities to ensure excellent patient care.
- Follow Biosecurity protocols and remain knowledgeable about changing requirements.
- Document stall cleaning status as needed to ensure efficient stall turnover.
Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Large animal handling experience required.
- Ability to operate a variety of motorized equipment, including forklift, tractor, and standard dump truck, required.
- Ability to perform strenuous work and tolerate exposure to weather, chemicals, and allergens required.
- Valid driver's license required.
Working Conditions:
This is a non-exempt position that requires working a standard day shift, Monday through Friday, with some weekends and holidays. The position is located in Kennett Square, PA, and requires a valid driver's license.
