Part-Time Schedule:
  • This role is part-time, adhering to a structured timetable: 34 hours biweekly, roughly 17 hours weekly.
  • Your working hours will include some daytime shifts (Monday is essential), a few evening hours, and a weekend (Saturday and Sunday) once every four weeks.
Position Overview

The Addison Public Library is seeking a dedicated Youth Services Coordinator to assist patrons in discovering their interests and information requirements. In this position, you will deliver outstanding patron interactions at the Youth Services desk, organize and execute children's programs, lead Storytime sessions, respond to individual meeting requests, and create and implement craft kits. Our Coordinators foster a culture of learning and are expected to share their knowledge with colleagues. Furthermore, you will have the chance to engage in special projects and participate in library-wide committees.

Qualifications We Seek:
  • A strong communicator with a positive demeanor, knowledgeable about child development, developmental milestones, and literacy, with a genuine enthusiasm for working with children and connecting them to literature.
  • An adept researcher who keeps up with current trends in pop culture and publishing, equipped with the tools and techniques necessary for providing readers' advisory and reference services.
  • Competence in utilizing technology, along with the patience and professionalism to assist others.
  • An MLS degree from an ALA-accredited institution is preferred. Enrollment in an ALA-accredited library science graduate program may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
  • A minimum of two years of experience working with children is essential.
