Description

Overview: Join our team to create and serve nutritious, visually appealing, and delectable dishes including soups, salads, main courses, and desserts. You will be responsible for developing standardized recipes that align with our commitment to local and organic food sourcing while also achieving departmental objectives related to sales, margins, and labor costs. You will supervise team members in food preparation and ensure exceptional customer service.

Status: Full or part-time, $16.00/hour, flexible schedule including evenings and weekends required.

Position Requirements

Job Responsibilities:

Food Preparation
  • Prepare and create soups, salads, and entrees according to specifications, focusing on:
    • seasonal, local, and organic ingredients
    • accommodating a variety of dietary preferences such as vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and meat options
    • innovative ingredient usage to enhance traditional menus
    • managing food costs while minimizing waste
  • Accurately follow departmental production sheets
  • Adhere to recipes, ensuring timely and quality completion of dishes
  • Implement proper food rotation, dating, and storage procedures
Customer Service
  • Deliver exceptional service to customers, exceeding their expectations
  • Maintain awareness of customer needs throughout the establishment
  • Ensure an appealing grab-and-go display and hot food offerings; manage coffee service area cleanliness and supply
General
  • Exhibit a positive attitude in all job functions
  • Restock essential items proactively
  • Understand the menu and recipes thoroughly, including taste, presentation, and necessary accompaniments
  • Communicate production schedule adjustments to supervisors
  • Be aware of co-workers' activities and offer assistance when needed
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Maintain consistency in food preparation while allowing for creativity
  • Arrive punctually for scheduled shifts and be flexible with hours as needed
  • Keep cooking equipment clean and sanitary
  • Notify supervisors of any supply needs or staffing concerns
  • Participate in all departmental meetings
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in culinary arts or a combination of education and experience
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and safe kitchen practices
  • Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment
  • Passion for cooking and providing excellent service
  • Ability to remain composed in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Self-driven and motivated
  • Capability to stand for extended periods and handle frequent exposure to varying temperatures
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly
  • Follow verbal instructions in a busy environment
  • Basic proficiency in office software including word processing and spreadsheets
  • Basic math skills
  • Willingness to learn and collaborate with team members
  • Resourceful and adaptable
