PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Food Service Operations Supervisor role is situated within the Florida Public Safety Institute (FPSI) Dining Facility and will report directly to the Dining Facility Manager.

This position involves skilled leadership of a team responsible for serving, preparing, and cooking a variety of food items including meats, vegetables, soups, gravies, and potatoes.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Working under the guidance of the Food Services Director to prepare and manage orders for food, paper supplies, and cleaning products necessary for the Dining Facility. Receiving and verifying food and supply deliveries, ensuring accurate accounting of all items received. Overseeing the daily operations of Kitchen Workers and OPS Kitchen Workers. Acting as the Dining Facility Manager in the absence of the Manager.
Serving as the lead cook, responsible for preparing baking trays, adjusting oven temperatures, and monitoring cooking durations. Operating ovens and grills effectively.

Preparing and cooking a variety of food items in accordance with health and safety standards, ensuring that meals are nutritious and visually appealing.

Additionally, preparing sauces, fillings for baked goods, salads, and soups as required.
Maintaining sanitary conditions in work and storage areas, ensuring compliance by Kitchen Workers and OPS Kitchen Workers. Cleaning cooking equipment, grills, stoves, ovens, and serving areas as necessary.
Providing service to patrons at food counters.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A High School diploma and three (3) years of experience in food preparation, with at least one (1) year in a supervisory role.


SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL DEMONSTRATE:
Knowledge of food service safety and sanitation protocols. Proficiency in operating and maintaining food preparation equipment. Ability to safely use commercial kitchen appliances. Capability to follow both written and verbal instructions. Skill in prioritizing and completing tasks efficiently. Effective communication abilities. Capacity to make independent decisions and judgments. Understanding and application of relevant rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Job duties are typically performed in a kitchen environment characterized by extreme heat and high humidity. Essential physical abilities include lifting and carrying hot items, pushing loads exceeding 25 pounds, walking, standing, bending, and stooping. Good vision and hearing are necessary, along with the ability to reach above shoulder height and work with food and cleaning chemicals.
