Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to patients with intricate health issues in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Manage clinical duties effectively, ensuring an equitable distribution of tasks among team members.
  • Take an active role in the training and professional growth of clinical dietetics staff.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to integrate nutritional care into patient treatment plans.
  • Document patient care using the Nutrition Care Process in medical records.
  • Serve as a resource for Level I and II dietitians, offering guidance and support.
  • Participate in departmental and system-wide committees to enhance food and nutrition services.
  • Engage in research and data collection relevant to clinical responsibilities.
  • Maintain all necessary professional credentials and licenses.
  • Utilize effective time management strategies to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and monitor performance metrics.
  • Assist in evaluating the performance of colleagues and interns.
  • Ensure optimal patient care by coordinating clinical responsibilities and adjusting workloads as necessary.
  • Conduct performance reviews for dietitians at various levels and mentor interns.
  • Develop educational experiences for dietetic interns, enhancing their learning opportunities.
  • Revise and update clinical policies and protocols as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions collaboratively.
  • Confirm and manage dietary prescriptions, ensuring they meet patient needs.
  • Develop tailored nutrition care plans and monitor patient progress.
  • Respect and incorporate patients' cultural and dietary preferences into care plans.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Act as a resource for food and nutrition services staff, providing recommendations on nutritional products.
  • Offer nutrition counseling to patients and their families based on assessed needs.
  • Update and create patient education materials to enhance understanding.
  • Participate in the development of educational resources for staff and patients.
  • Engage in continuous professional development through education and training activities.
  • Demonstrate advanced competency in clinical practice and decision-making.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and patient care discussions.
  • Contribute to quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing patient satisfaction.
  • Conduct physical assessments and identify nutrition-related diagnoses.
  • Support the professional development of dietetic interns in clinical assessment techniques.
  • Engage with professional organizations to stay current in the field.
  • Complete continuing education requirements to maintain professional knowledge.
  • Provide nutrition expertise to healthcare team members.
  • Facilitate educational seminars for healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to system-wide nutrition initiatives and events.
  • Participate in orientation programs for new clinical dietitian staff.
  • Showcase new skills and approaches to enhance clinical practice.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition or Dietetics.
  • Registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Possession of a specialty certification or a Master's degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of three years of clinical dietitian experience.
  • Licensed as a dietitian in the State of Georgia.
  • Competency in adult and geriatric nutrition.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with diet management software.
