Position Summary

We are in search of a skilled and proactive legal professional with outstanding capabilities in legal writing, research, and civil motion practice. The ideal candidate will collaborate effectively with team members across various levels and manage a range of civil litigation responsibilities. Compensation will be aligned with your skills and experience.

Key Qualifications:

  • Licensed to practice in any U.S. jurisdiction (Utah preferred but not mandatory)
  • Bar admission in Utah (or registered for the upcoming UBE Bar Exam with intentions to join the Utah Bar)
  • Expertise and skill are critical (years of experience are not a determining factor)
  • Proficient legal drafting abilities, especially in demand letters and motion documents
  • Strong legal analytical skills and the ability to apply them to client-specific situations
  • Experience in litigation and reviewing/redlining commercial agreements
  • Familiarity with data protection and privacy regulations is advantageous

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct legal research and analysis (LexisNexis access provided as necessary)
  • Draft motions, pleadings, demand letters, and settlement proposals
  • Review, analyze, and produce discovery materials
  • Create client-friendly memoranda and analyze client issues
  • Draft, review, revise, and negotiate various legal documents, including service agreements, vendor contracts, confidentiality agreements, and real estate contracts, focusing on outbound agreements
  • Participate in hearings, argue motions, and manage discovery
  • Prepare legal briefs, pleadings, and other essential legal documents
  • Collaborate closely with staff on transactions that enhance the firm's revenue
  • Undertake special assignments, strategic projects, or other duties as required
  • Advise on real estate contract obligations and risks
  • Work proactively with internal stakeholders to refine and scale the litigation process
  • Assist in case management, including document organization, deposition preparation, and witness coaching
  • Attend depositions, mediations, and meetings with clients and opposing parties
  • Engage in settlement discussions and alternative dispute resolution processes
  • Review and assess legal documents and contracts for compliance with applicable laws
  • Maintain professional communication with clients, opposing counsel, and third-party stakeholders
  • Stay informed on legal developments that may impact litigation strategies or client representation
  • Support other attorneys and staff as needed, including participation in firm meetings and training sessions

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Hourly rate ranging from $36 to $62, based on skill and experience, with bi-monthly direct deposit
  • Flexible work settings: fully remote, hybrid-remote, or in-office
  • Independence and flexibility as an independent contractor
  • Potential for expanded responsibilities and in-house opportunities following a successful working relationship
  • Integration into the team culture with participation in events and activities

  • Engagement with complex legal matters requiring meticulous attention to detail and growth across various legal domains
  • Expected hours: 8 to 32 hours per week, depending on demand
  • Must possess a personal laptop
  • Willingness to occasionally work on-site at the office

What You Bring to the Table:

  • JD, LLB & LLM, or equivalent law degree
  • Licensed in any U.S. jurisdiction (Utah preferred but not necessary)
  • Experience collaborating across multiple business functions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Exceptional analytical and negotiation capabilities
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong project management and communication skills to drive processes to completion
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing priorities
  • Sound judgment and experience managing sensitive information with integrity
  • Efficient legal research skills and proficiency with legal research tools
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and adaptable to various cloud software applications
