Position Title: Manufacturing Engineer II

Unique Skills:
Experience in a manufacturing or mechanical setting is essential. Strong communication and customer service skills are preferred. Familiarity with ERP or manufacturing planning software, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, is advantageous.

Education and Experience Requirements:
A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, is required. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience that enables the successful performance of the essential functions of the role may be considered. A minimum of eighteen months of experience in manufacturing engineering, planning, or a related technical field is expected.

Position Purpose:
With minimal supervision, the role involves independently preparing, conducting, and evaluating analyses aimed at enhancing planning and resolving manufacturing challenges (including production methods and procedures) within a specific function. This encompasses layout, production flow, tooling, production equipment, material fabrication, assembly methods, and planning in both production and post-production environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct technical studies of a complex nature and analyze operations (existing or proposed).
  2. Prepare comprehensive reports recommending necessary equipment and optimal manufacturing methods, including detailed methodologies for complex assemblies and installations.
  3. Develop detailed work instructions that enhance manufacturing process efficiency and aim for zero defects in collaboration with the Operations Engineer.
  4. Create rework instructions to support effective corrective actions and ensure all parts defined by engineering are incorporated during assembly.
  5. Assist in make-or-buy proposals and recommend corrective actions for areas of responsibility; evaluate vendors and support vendor negotiations.
  6. Conduct research and analysis for assigned planning projects to ensure compliance with requirements.
  7. Perform productibility studies from engineering drawings to identify opportunities for improving manufacturing capabilities.
  8. Participate in Design for Manufacturing assessments with engineering teams.
  9. Utilize statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing needs and generate necessary reports.
  10. Audit co-workers' outputs based on established requirements and procedures.
  11. Incorporate Lean Manufacturing methodologies into existing and future processes.
  12. Lead and coordinate project implementations across multiple organizations with minimal supervision.
  13. Support all safety, sustainability, and ergonomic initiatives.

Additional Functions:
Ensure adherence to quality policies and recommend procedures for quality improvement. Maintain accurate daily and weekly activity statuses based on work output. Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:
Proven knowledge of Lean and/or Six Sigma principles is essential. Familiarity with engineering configuration requirements, tooling, quality control, plant safety, blueprint reading, and shop mathematics is necessary. Proficiency in operating computerized equipment, including personal computers and relevant software, is required. Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification or higher is preferred.
