As a Manufacturing Engineer Specialist with a focus on composites, you will play a crucial role in overseeing significant manufacturing initiatives and pioneering research in complex areas that contribute to the development and production of Gulfstream's advanced products and services.
Key Skills Required:
- In-depth expertise in aerospace composite manufacturing is essential.
- Familiarity with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and Ultrasonic testing is preferred.
- Lean Six Sigma or Green Belt certification is highly desirable.
- Experience with SAP, Solumina, Smarteam, and CATIA is advantageous.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related field is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that enables you to effectively fulfill the essential functions of the role. An advanced degree in engineering or a related discipline is preferred. Candidates should have 10 years of experience in the specific technical discipline or 15 years of broad engineering experience across various technical fields, or 8 years in the specific discipline with a Master's degree, or 6 years with a PhD.
Core Responsibilities:
In your assigned manufacturing processes, you will:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive work instructions.
- Drive initiatives for quality enhancement, efficiency improvements, and material presentation optimization.
- Manage daily operational plans and provide metrics for quality and schedule performance.
- Coordinate necessary engineering and tooling modifications.
You will select suitable methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to address intricate manufacturing and engineering challenges, focusing on process development and enhancement within manufacturing sectors. Your expertise will be sought after by colleagues and others as a recognized authority on manufacturing and engineering principles.
Additionally, you will:
- Provide technical guidance and training to Operations Engineers.
- Anticipate and creatively resolve complex manufacturing process issues, establishing standards and guidelines that impact the successful production of aircraft and system installations.
Your problem-solving approach will balance product quality, cost efficiency, and adherence to schedules, allowing you to work with minimal supervision while achieving long-term objectives.
Additional Responsibilities:
Stay informed about advancements in your specialty and related aircraft fields to propose innovations that enhance the quality and effectiveness of Gulfstream's products. Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
