The Manufacturing Engineer Specialist (Composites Subject Matter Expert) plays a crucial role in the successful execution of significant manufacturing initiatives at Gulfstream. This position demands a deep understanding of aerospace composite manufacturing and the ability to guide complex projects from conception to completion.
Key Skills Required:
- In-depth expertise in aerospace composite manufacturing.
- Preferred experience in Non-Destructive Testing and Ultra Sonic testing.
- Lean Six Sigma/Green Belt certification is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with SAP, Solumina, Smarteam, and CATIA is advantageous.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related field is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that enables the successful performance of job responsibilities. An advanced degree in engineering or a related discipline is preferred. Candidates should have a minimum of 10 years in the specific technical field or 15 years of diverse engineering experience, or 8 years in the specific technical discipline with a Master's degree, or 6 years with a PhD.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Manufacturing Engineer Specialist will:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive work instructions for assigned manufacturing processes.
- Drive initiatives for quality and efficiency improvements while enhancing material presentation.
- Manage daily work plans and provide metrics to assess quality and schedule performance.
- Coordinate necessary engineering and tooling modifications to meet operational objectives.
In addition, the specialist will:
- Select appropriate methodologies and evaluation criteria to address complex manufacturing and engineering challenges aimed at process enhancement.
- Serve as a recognized authority on manufacturing and engineering principles, providing technical guidance and training to Operations Engineers.
- Proactively identify and resolve intricate issues within the manufacturing process, establishing standards and guidelines that influence the successful production of aircraft and system installations.
Additional Responsibilities:
Maintain current knowledge of advancements in the specialty field and related aircraft domains to propose innovations that enhance product quality and effectiveness. Undertake other duties as assigned.
Other Qualifications:
The technical skills and abilities required for this position will be determined by each specific discipline.
