Educational and Experience Requirements:
A Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related field is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that enables the successful performance of job responsibilities. An advanced degree in engineering or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have 10 years of experience in the specific technical discipline or 15 years of broad engineering experience across multiple disciplines, or 8 years in the specific technical discipline with a Master's degree, or 6 years in the specific technical discipline with a PhD.
Position Purpose:
To oversee the successful execution of significant manufacturing initiatives or to develop research in areas of substantial scope and complexity that support the evolution and production of General Dynamics products and services.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
For the manufacturing processes assigned, the role involves providing and maintaining comprehensive work instructions, driving enhancements in quality and efficiency, improving material presentation, managing daily work plans, delivering metrics for quality and schedule performance, and coordinating necessary engineering and tooling modifications.
Select suitable methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to address complex manufacturing and engineering challenges aimed at process development and improvement.
Recognized as an authority by peers and others for the application of manufacturing and engineering principles within the manufacturing domain.
Provide technical support and training to Operations Engineers.
Proactively identify and resolve intricate issues within the manufacturing process in innovative and effective manners, establishing standards and guidelines for diverse engineering and manufacturing activities that impact the successful production of aircraft and system installations.
Adopt a problem-solving approach that balances product quality, cost, and performance timelines. Operate with minimal supervision; work is evaluated from a long-term perspective for desired outcomes. Exercise discretion in determining technical objectives for assignments and make decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative.
Additional Functions:
Maintain current knowledge of advancements in the specialty field and related aircraft sectors to propose innovations that enhance the quality and effectiveness of company products.
Perform other duties as assigned.

The level of technical skills and abilities appropriate for this position will be determined by each discipline.
