Position Overview:
Divergent is in search of a seasoned and driven aerospace engineer to contribute to the development of next-generation aerospace frame architectures. We are dedicated to revolutionizing vehicle structural systems by adopting innovative materials and technologies. We seek a forward-thinking engineer to help shape the future of aerospace structures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and analyze CAE models of NodeTM-based vehicle structures for aerospace applications, including validation through hand calculations, topology optimization, and CAD/CAE tools.
  • Effectively present technical analysis summaries and reports in meetings with relevant engineering teams.
  • Innovate and implement new technical solutions for aerospace structures to support external customer initiatives and collaborative development projects.
  • Collaborate within the Structures team and across disciplines to design and release structures optimized for weight, production efficiency, and assembly.
  • Work cross-functionally to drive cost reduction initiatives, improve methods, and support prototype and production activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in aerospace structural design and analysis.
  • Proficient in Altair Hypermesh or Beta CAE ANSA preprocessor; CAD experience is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of linear and nonlinear behaviors of advanced materials (composites, adhesives, metals) for lightweight structural solutions.
  • Familiarity with aerospace load applications and military standards.
  • Excellent grasp of solid mechanics and finite element theories.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a self-motivated approach to managing workload and meeting deadlines.
  • Experience working with engineering, testing, and manufacturing teams to understand system designs and constraints.
  • Knowledge of overall vehicle systems and requirements is beneficial.
  • Experience with airworthiness certification processes and engaging with Department of Defense stakeholders is a plus.
  • Experience supporting structural design and analysis throughout various phases of development.
  • Familiarity with rapid prototyping programs and managing system configurations.
