Job Summary

The Operations Supervisor directs, supervises, and coordinates event setup activities and operations for the facility, providing responsible staff assistance to the Director of Event Operations. This role will pay an hourly rate between $18 to $20.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, direction, coordination, and review of work plans for facility operations.
  • Work with employees to correct deficiencies and implement discipline procedures.
  • Ability to follow written instructions, interpret CADs and blueprints.
  • Interface with vendors and production crews as required.
  • Responsible for the organization and presentation of all Operations storage areas.
  • Communicate between shifts the necessary tasks that still need to be completed.
  • Working knowledge of operations equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, staging, pipe and drape, all tables, all chairs, etc.
  • Coordinate between changeover crew and housekeeping needs with Building Services staff.
  • Assist in completing light janitorial work (vacuuming, sweeping, and taking out trash and recycling).
  • Maintain departmental equipment in good working condition.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum of (2) years experience in an operations position in an Arena, Convention Center, or Public Assembly Facility, including set-up/housekeeping, event coordination, or a related field. A degree in Facility Management or a related field may allow for substitution for years of experience.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment, adept at multitasking and meeting deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with strong leadership and organizational abilities.
  • Proficient with operational equipment, such as forklifts, scrubbers, etc.
  • Skilled in following written instructions, interpreting AutoCAD drawings.
  • Capable of following explicit orders, collaborating in teams, and working independently.
  • Adaptable to flexible schedules, including weekends and extended hours.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and customer service skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
  • Ability to work long hours, including a varied schedule of days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Demands

While performing duties of this job, the employee occasionally lifts and moves facility equipment and/or tools. Employee will frequently move about inside and outside various areas of the large facility before/during/after events to interact with internal/external clients and supervise the work of employees. Position will require employee to occasionally bend, stoop, or crouch in order to evaluate and inspect equipment and building infrastructure. Employee will as needed operate a forklift and high lift in assessment of and maintenance of the building and equipment. Employee will occasionally be required to identify or match colors/tones of furniture, dance floor, carpet, or other items as necessary. Employee will frequently operate a computer and other office devices, such as calculators, telephones, copy machines, and printers; employee will constantly communicate via telephone, email, and in-person with others and exchange accurate information. Employee will frequently lift 30 lbs; occasionally lift up to 75 pounds; and push/pull 150 pounds, as business demands require.

Work Environment

The duties of this position are performed primarily indoors and occasionally outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate during non-event days and when not operating equipment; and moderate to loud during event days when equipment is in operation. The work environment is consistently cool (cold) when the ice rink is in place seasonally. Exposure to crowds with thousands of people in attendance, crowded or tight spaces, high elevation, consistently loud workspaces, and freight elevators.
