ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR

Overview of Responsibilities

The Accounting Supervisor is tasked with overseeing the daily financial operations and accounting activities within the organization.

Reporting Structure

Reports to the Chief Executive Officer

Supervision Scope

Supervises Accounting Assistants

Key Responsibilities of the Accounting Supervisor include:

1. Ensure effective management of banking operations, including prompt deposits and thorough reconciliation of bank accounts.

2. Oversee the Accounts Payable team to ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices.

3. Collaborate with Human Resources to guarantee accurate payroll processing and posting.

4. Ensure timely payment of all applicable taxes.

5. Prepare monthly financial reports and make necessary adjusting entries.

6. Develop and monitor annual budget plans in conjunction with the CEO, ensuring compliance with operational expense guidelines.

7. Foster a positive workplace environment and contribute to team cohesion within the organization.

8. Conduct financial audits as requested by the CEO.

9. Liaise with external accountants to ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

10. Maintain compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, ensuring departmental standards meet or exceed accreditation requirements, and implement best practices in all operations.

11. Engage in assessments conducted by authorized regulatory bodies.

12. Participate in the organization’s Performance Improvement initiatives as requested by Human Resources.

13. Attend and contribute to relevant organizational committees as needed.

14. Engage in professional development programs offered by the organization.

15. Pursue ongoing education relevant to job responsibilities.

16. Perform additional duties as assigned by the CEO.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Proven ability to organize and direct the activities of team members, with effective delegation skills.

2. Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate and consistent records.

3. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration, or 10 years of relevant accounting experience with increasing responsibilities.

4. Comprehensive knowledge of accounting functions and financial management principles.

5. Strong decision-making skills with the ability to evaluate options effectively.

6. Proficient in computer applications, including spreadsheets and word processing, along with efficient internet and email usage.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role:

1. Regularly required to stand, walk, and sit, as well as communicate verbally and audibly.

2. Required to use hands for operating office equipment.

3. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

4. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
