Behavioral Health Access and Assessment Nurse

Mass General Brigham is seeking a skilled Behavioral Health Access and Assessment Nurse to join our team. As a key member of our Behavioral and Mental Health team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective management of behavioral health patients across our system.
Responsibilities:- Provide expertise in behavioral and medical needs assessment for behavioral health patients, identifying placement barriers and recommending the most appropriate treatment setting.
- Collaborate with clinical leaders systemwide to support efficient behavioral health throughput, from admission to discharge.
- Develop and implement data-driven solutions to improve access and disposition planning, working closely with the MGB BMH leadership team.
- Lead change management efforts, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation across the system.
- Work closely with clinical leaders to monitor and analyze data related to central access and disposition planning, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN required. Master's degree preferred.
- Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Massachusetts, required.
- 5 years of inpatient psychiatry unit and/or emergency department experience, required.
- 5-year Nurse leader experience, such as flow coordinator, access nurse, bed control, supervisor in a psychiatric setting, inpatient behavioral health charge nurse or clinical coordinator.
- Continually updates clinical knowledge and skills through formal and informal education and review of the current literature.
- Experience in behavioral health and inpatient admissions processes.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with an attention to detail, ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and projects, meet deadlines, and manage schedule.
- Interest in hospital-wide and other asset-based capacity challenges and understanding of downstream effects of patient flow on the whole system.
- Self-motivated with high degree of initiative.
- Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with intra-inter and outside hospital personnel.
- Ability to manage critical issues relating to patient care and changing organization climate.
- Data analytics skills; experience and commitment to operating within a highly transparent and visible data-driven decision-making environment.
