Accounting Manager Position at MCS

Job Overview

Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee the financial operations at MCS. This role is essential in managing the month-end closing activities and ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting. You will be tasked with preparing comprehensive financial analyses and maintaining compliance with accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the monthly closing activities, including the preparation and approval of journal entries.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in all accounting practices.
  • Analyze financial data to generate insightful reports and statements.
  • Prepare reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and perform variance analysis.
  • Compile monthly financial statements and related reports for management review.
  • Guarantee timely and precise financial reporting.
  • Manage payroll accounting and analysis for the organization.
  • Maintain accurate Fixed Asset records, ensuring proper transaction recording and depreciation.
  • Adhere to accounting policies and procedures while contributing to policy development.
  • Produce daily cash flow and management reports.
  • Conduct monthly bank account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist in coordinating the year-end audit process.
  • Engage in year-end audit activities and contribute to finance-related projects, including process enhancements.
  • Address ad hoc financial requests as needed.
  • Enhance systems and procedures, implementing corrective measures where necessary.

Supervisory Duties:

This role includes supervisory responsibilities over the accounting team.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent professional experience.

CPA certification is advantageous.

Experience: Minimum of five years in general accounting and payroll functions.

Experience in public accounting with a focus on internal controls is preferred.

Familiarity with Great Plains Software is a plus.

Experience in system upgrades or implementations is desirable.

Work Environment:

This position requires sitting for extended periods in a controlled office environment, with responsibilities including computer and phone work.
