About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Geotechnical Engineering Professional to join our team at Arup. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality services to our clients and contributing to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed desk study reports on sites due for development, analyzing subsurface information and identifying potential risks and opportunities.
  • Use and manage subsurface information database systems to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Observe construction site works and geotechnical investigation to gather data and insights.
  • Log and describe properties of geological (soil and rock) materials to aid design and construction works.
  • Prepare laboratory test schedules and interpret subsurface conditions to understand their impact on design and construction.
  • Carry out shallow and deep foundation design, slope stability calculations, and seismic assessments to ensure safe and efficient construction.
  • Support the completion of temporary support-of-excavation designs, including for basements, shafts, and cut-and-cover tunnels/subway stations.
  • Conduct preliminary ground movement predictions, hydrogeological impact, and building damage assessments to identify potential risks.
  • Collaborate in multidisciplinary teams to design for subsurface elements, ensuring seamless integration with structural, civil, and bridges & civil structures.
  • Observe the installation of subsurface elements during construction to ensure quality and safety.
Requirements
  • Pursuing Master's or PhD of Science in Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering/Engineering Geology, or Civil Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills essential for team-based working.
  • Excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges.
  • Able to prioritize effectively, balance assigned work, and exceptional organization skills required for our constantly evolving environment.
  • Presentation skills with colleagues and clients of all levels.
  • Proficient in developing code and common coding languages.
  • Proficient in geotechnical engineering analysis software preferred.
